'Illoura' Argyle Pink & Blue Diamond Ring

Description

'ILLOURA'

Winner of the Fancy Colour Award at the 2013 Diamond Guild of Australia Jewellery Awards

'Illoura' was a collaboration between Matthew Ely and Steve Der Bedrossian of Pink Kimberley Diamonds. It features 246 Argyle pink diamonds (2.26ct) and 4 Argyle blue diamonds (0.74ct), set in 18ct white and rose gold.

The ring was reminiscent of Matthew's time spent as a jeweller in London, with inspiration taken from the Royal Carriage. This design set a precedent for Matthew's future work with pink diamonds, blending innovation with classic elegance.

Argyle Pink Diamonds are rarer and more valuable than ever before, with the 2020 closure of the Rio Tinto Argyle mine in Western Australia. In operation for 27 years, the mine was responsible for 90% of the world pink diamonds, not to mention the most vivid and high-quality stones in existence.

This one-of-a-kind piece was handcrafted at the Matthew Ely Woollahra workshop & boutique.
